Was the Cook Islands leak a FiveEyes operation?

The leak appeared in the Cook Islands media, not New Zealand’s. On the day before Christopher Luxon was due to meet Xi Jinping. One has to ask “cui bono?”

Negotiations on the issue of consultation by the Cook Islands government with New Zealand on the agreement between China and the Cooks were ongoing, presumably on a confidential basis as they had not been revealed by either government.

The US-led Five Eyes definitely have China in their sights. Our officials have documented and some politicians have declared China a “threat” to us. News out of China yesterday indicated that relations between Prime Minister Luxon and those he was meeting were “warming.” Can’t have that.

What better way to throw a spanner into the works for Luxon than to be blind-sided and have to deal with this issue which concerns a relationship between China and the Cooks while he meets with China’s leader. If definitely fits the Five Eyes agenda, and that of their like-minded cohorts in our security services, to try to disrupt any improvement in our relations with China.

Radio New Zealand has stated and Winston Peters virtually confirmed that New Zealand was advised in advance of the Israeli attack on Iran, no doubt by the FiveEyes. Whether that advice included the murder of senior army officers and technically knowledgeable civilians we do not know. We do know that New Zealand has not responded publicly to this act of cross-border aggression in the same way as we did when Russia attacked Ukraine in 2022.

Sitting on the brink of World War 3 as we are I do hope that Luxon does not let himself be distracted and takes this opportunity to put time into warming the relationship with China. Debate about our relationship with China has come into the open, with senior and experienced former politicians accused by Winston Peters of “shouting impotently at clouds.” Winston is starting to lose it.

He describes how New Zealand sees itself as determinedly disagreeable, apparently only with China.

“Our long-standing political connections enable frank and comprehensive discussions on areas of disagreement, including those that stem from our different histories and different systems.”

Compared with the Chinese world-view, New Zealand’s relationship is not that long-standing. Rewi Alley defined it for the present Chinese government before diplomatic relations were established in 1972. Indeed for most of the time since then it has been very good, only starting to go sour about the time Obama declared the “pivot to Asia.” We now have Judith Collins arguing for lethality in our pop-guns.

If I was a fly on the wall in the meetings in Beijing, it wouldn’t surprise me if there wasn’t some frank and comprehensive advice initiated by the Chinese in the discussions. It will be a test for Luxon as to whether he can rise to the occasion, now that the stakes are so much higher.

I think is it quite possible that the FiveEyes cabal have done their best to make his task harder.

Luxon would try to tell us WW3 was part of his strategy to bring growth back to the NZ economy…

Sitting on the brink of World War 3. What a joke. Alarmist much. The chance s of WW3 are so remote due to everyone understanding that it leads to mutual destruction. Regional flare ups like Ukraine and potentially Taiwan are the worst we will see. The Middle East has always been a basket case so that’s just par for the course.

We all know the answer to this question!

The timing is interesting indeed. RNZ portrayed it as a local senior journo discovering two sentences in a document about the NZ suspension of almost $20 mill to Cooks and then going public as have the usual anti China Cook Opposition suspects.

My reckon is “persons hard to trace” connected to US Imperialism, suggested the timing to Cooks media and opposition.

Gormless Luxon will try and bluff his way through with the Chinese while thinking. “Winston has knifed me again”.

It would take one Iranian dirty missile to poison much of Israel for a very long time. So there's steps to WW3.

In the same position as PM Luxon I'd be sucking up to China wholesale since they've won the Cooks from us, and they are now our primary economic hope for the next decade.

Our next PM should speak Mandarin.

The Iranians claim they want to liberate Palestine from Zionist Israel, a dirty bomb won't do that for “Palestinians”.

Best not believe any of those "leaders". Trump is now particularly unconnected from his intelligence and security frameworks, but it's the same for Israel's PM and his military, and the Ayatollah and the Revolutionary Guards.

Luxon's a paragon of statesmanlike coherence in comparison.

Xi and China look a lot more composed, reliable and stable than the US and the rest of the western rabble.

Underscores that the democratic state model has little to offer China.

The 3 moments that might have changed China's view of democratic government were:

1 Post Soviet collapse and western pillaging rather than sustained rebuilding

2 Post 9 /11 US breaking books of global rules, straight after persuading China to sign the WTO.

        3. The GFC caused by the US financial system collapse, and rhe cruel austerity responses.

Smarter choices for all 3 by US and EU could have altered China's view of democratic governance.

Instead weak democracies now go to Xi and beg.

In the last 20 centuries the US has been dominant during one, England during an other.

And the other dominant nation during that time has been …

I think we are heading back to business as usual.
